Posted Oct 2010 BBC Sports Unsung Hero Award
To rercognise the time and commitment our coaches give to keeping ShuttleWorks operating, could you consider taking the time to nominate our coaches, (Amanda Currie, Phil McBride, Graeme Smith and David Stewart) for the BBC Unsung Hero Award. The winner will be announced in the BBC Sport Personailty of the Year programme on Sunday 19 December. The BBC are looking for an individual who, on a voluntary basis, makes a real difference to sport within their area. Posted Sep 2010 Welcome back to the new season and we hope you have had a great summer break.
During the summer fees have been increased at the Cockburn Centre where Adult And Junior memberships have been replaced by one standard fee and the Court Charges have been increased to £8.50 per hour. Our Badminton Scotland Affiliation Fee has also increased. However, we have decided we can retain last season’s membership fee of £20 and weekly subscription of £3 (general members) and £4 (intermediate/advanced). This has not been an easy decision, given the Coaches provide their time on a voluntary basis.

Posted Dec 2009 Secret Santa Theme on 12 December
That time of year has come around again to have a wee laugh and this year we have agreed to have a session with a Secret Santa Theme. The 12th December is our last session before Christmas and to celebrate the festivities we’ve come up with an idea, for everyone to bring along a wrapped gift worth £5 (the girls bring a gift for girls and the boys for boys). Players can get dressed up as elves, Santa and basically anything festive. The session will be free to paid-up members. Parents and guardians are more than welcome to join in on the fun games (this means especially the warm-ups!). Please let us know if you will be attending on Saturday 12th November (the last hour will be for people to catch-up and have a game) just to give us an idea of numbers. We hope to have refreshments available.

We start the new session on 29 August at the Cockburn Centre, 1000-1200 as usual. The location for later weeks will be confirmed as soon as we know.

Posted Feb 09 Family Tournament
The coaches and the committee would like to thank everyone who participated and helped on the Family Tournament, especially our glamorous mums in the kitchen. As you may know we raised £350 and the Teenage Cancer Trust have been informed of the Club's effort and we hope to arrange for a photo shoot shortly. If any parent/guardian would not wish their child or ward to be included in the photo shoot, please email me asap. Dates for this will be issued shortly.
A big thanks to the individuals who had contributed to the Tombola by buying tickets and donating the gifts. We were surprised at the very generous nature of some of the prizes and perhaps we'll need to increase the ticket prices next time!

Posted Sept 08 AGM
Following the meeting on Saturday 20 September we have several volunteers willing to serve on the committee and also to help out in other ways. We now have to formalise this with and AGM and we will set a date as soon as possible. A formal agenda will be circulated for the meeting. If there are any other parents willing to help out please make yourselves known to us on a Saturday.
Several ideas have already been discussed including:
- Healthy options tuck shop
- Tea/Coffee facilities for parents on a Staurday morning
- Club members award scheme
- Fund raising events
We will keep you up to date with regular newsletters and on the website as these initiatives progress. Remember this is your club so if you have any ideas or comments please let us know.
